Unicorn Poop

You know how sometimes, you just have to go there. Like when you find a picture and it just looks like something you have to make. I dunno, happens to me more often than it should.
So, here's where I found the original post: http://www.instructables.com/id/Unicorn-Poop/
Had to; had to make them- I mean, come on.
I used my Mom's recipe for sugar cookies, pretty sure it came from a Tupperware party because they're called:

Tupperware Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions

  1. Cream first 3 ingredients
  2. Then add next flour and dry ingredients- then, add the vanilla. Mix will come together but will be grainy.
  3. Put in Ziploc baggie and flatten into a disk in the fridge for at least 1/2 hour.
  4. Roll out in powdered sugar to 1/8"
  5. Bake 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes (for poop shapes, I had to go 14 minutes)
I doubled the recipe, and it would normally produce about 24 1" dough balls.

This is really my favorite sugar cookie recipe. Sweet, but not too sweet, holds its shape pretty well and it's a pretty tender cookie.

So, I mixed the dough, divided it into 8 different portions,

colored (I used the Americolor gel food coloring),

then saran wrapped.

fter they chilled for 15 minutes in the ice cube compartment, (mostly because I have no patience- you could do 30 in the fridge)

the girls helped roll the dough out.

We swirled the dough then twisted it up into piles of .. well.. poop.

Added stars and baked. Had to go 15 minutes to fully cook since they were so thick.
Hot from the oven,

I dusted some disco dust, then onto the eating:

Success.

Because, sometimes, ya gotta go there.
