Kew Gardens and the theater

Geeeeeeez louise. I thought golden gate park was big. Kew gardens was amazing.

This was in the walkway high above the temple house one of the few remaining Victorian green houses.

One of the maaaaanny walk ways.

We didn't realize how big this place was.. Should have been tipped off there was a tram. Anyhow, soldiered around, missing I bet 1/2 we will definitely be going back. Picked up a copy of the book "Kew Kids" and will be reading it with the girls before returning.

We only spent 2 hours there and hardly scratched the surface. And we so need to go back and find the compost heap, man eating plants and play in the indoor playground. The outdoor one had a zip line!

Then we had a lively discussion on which train to take complicated by the fact I forgot my oyster card. The tube sucks when you have to buy segmented tickets. I will be stapling the card to my hand tomorrow.

Tubed up to Oxford Circus and smack into the London Gay Pride parade. Could hardly move. Technology failed to help us find the theatre so we had to use a map. Had a quick lunch then into the theatre to see Andrew Lloyd Weber's Wizard of Oz. The Palladium is an beautiful place. But on the way to our seat we passed 3 gift shops. Three.

The girls looooooooved it. Eh, it was okay, highlight was the wicked witch coming down on a harness from the ceiling. Her dress was fabulous -must try to make one for Halloween. Black feathers and a cool swirly hair do.

Michael Crawford (the original phantom of the opera) played the Wizard. We couldn't leave without a Toto stuffed animal (thanks. Noni.) And sadly, had to stop mom from buying Dennis a shirt that said "I'm a friend of Dororthy". Google it. I'll wait -

Tube to the train home. Jen and I ventured out to the ASDA market. You have to rent shopping carts with a coin that you get back upon returning it. We opted for the hand baskets and filled them full of cider and beer. Mm mm good. Okay we did buy a couple food like substances. Took the bus home and Skyped My brother John.

Jen and Mom have plane reservations to Milan on Friday. They're off to see Betta and Gianni and our family in Italy. I'm pretty green but Dennis and I will try to squeeze in a visit at the end of our trip.

Tomorrow we'll try to go to the flower market and have tea.. Wish us good Tube karma.

Xo Sarah
