We leave for Utrecht tomorrow (4th largest city in the Netherlands) so today was a day of laundry and picking up. it sucks just as much overseas as it does at home. The people before us left a bottle of laundry detergent that smells of lavender on steroids. I had purchased laundry sheets of detergent (pretty sure they're for washing clothes in the sink) they have been working really well. And speaking of homesick, I've only missed my dryer today. it's been rainy for the past couple of days I've had to hang laundry inside.
We've had maps strewn around, ticket stubs and tour books all over the dining room table. I spent the morning reinforcing my tourist map with "cello" tape and piecing back together my tube map. They have to last at least another few weeks! We have more relatives coming :)
P took all her ticket stubs and has glued them into her scrap book. We had a good run of both girls writing or drawing every day about the things they've seen and done, but it's fallen by the wayside. Hopefully we can get back in the groove.
The girls have spent the day in cartoon heaven. P and O have been obsessed with Usborne sticker books P spent the whole afternoon dressing the dolls in sticker clothes. Then proceeded to cry when she realized she only had a couple more pages left to stick. But hopefully the airport will stock a couple more. Otherwise it's going to be a long plane flight.
Dennis came home in the early afternoon and worked. He spent a wild couple of days in a corporate basement teaching a class. It was nice to have him home for dinner. I won't lie and tell you about the meal I prepared.. Dennis walked down to get burgers. He stopped by the dry cleaners to get his shirts and the guy was still ironing them -by hand. Then offered to walk them down to our place. It's an odd little place we're in. But we're enjoying it.
The girls and I have been reading "the Indian in the cupboard" it's the first chapter book P has been interested in, and I've had to hide it so O won't read ahead.
Well, it's bedtime, I have to go tuck the girls in, the bed sharing is totally screwing up their sleep, but I have no plans to buy another mattress for 3 weeks. I'll have to become the sleep drill sergeant when we get back, I have a feeling it will be ugly.
So enough about us, what have all y'all been up to?
I
