Day 2 Camagna-geddon The Tower of London

Up early to catch the train to Kew Bridge rail stop. Noni was pretty much toast after 3 countries in 5 days so she sat this one out. John, Nora and the boys were waiting on the platform they hopped on and we proceeded to be the loud Americans all the way to Waterloo. We hopped the subway to the Tower of London tower Hill stop. It was pouring rain. On the way to the tower you could see the ruins of the old Roman wall. The lines were short, made shorter by us purchasing tickets online the night before.

We headed to where the Yeomen (don't call them Beefeaters) started their tour and got two spots in until the rain canceled the tour. Very bummed as he was especially witty. O thought it was hilarious when he told the crowd we were supposed to throw him 10£ notes. We peeled out, P and I opting to skip the implements of torture room. We wandered up to the Crown jewels. I don't know about your six year old, but P was all over it. "Look Mom! that crown would totally fit me". This was not made any better by the gift shop selling tiaras in miniature. Jewels seen we found Dennis, O and the rest of the family and headed for the armory. Axes, swords (non diamond encrusted), maces, armor, horse armor.. You name it we saw it.

Passed a few ravens by which point we passed through one last trinket shop (we ended up with no souvineers!) and out into the rain. We had been there about an hour and a half and were all pretty toast. We headed out to find lunch. Mr. Jeske found his bliss, we ate at a gourmet burger joint that had Thai peanut sauce for it's fries - delicious - and I'm pretty sure my right arteries are begging for mercy. After lunch the Camagna's were off to ride the Red Bus tour and the rest of us headed home.

Mom had cleaned up and gone out to buy a newspaper and in the process lost her credit cards. Luckily our neighbor had found them. Huge relief.

Bistro George for dinner I am beyond tired. Tomorrow is the British Museum and perhaps a trip to see the royal mews.

Sorry about missing a day, the pace is getting to me. Now is the time when I would call one or all of my Niles Mommies and fob my children off on them for an hour of sanity.

Cheers,
Sarah
